Every year it’s the same conversation. “What do you want for Father’s Day?” “Nothing.” Ugh.
Shopping for dads can feel impossible, especially when they insist they already have everything they need. But the best gifts usually aren’t expensive anyway—they’re the ones that come straight from the heart. If your dad is the type who says he doesn’t want anything, these ideas are perfect because they’re less about “stuff” and more about making him feel appreciated.
A “Reasons We Love Dad” Jar
This is one of the easiest gifts to make, but it ends up meaning the most. Grab a Mason jar, decorate it with stickers, ribbon, paint markers or photos, then fill it with little folded notes. You can write your favorite memories with him, funny things he says all the time, things he taught you, moments when he helped you or reasons you appreciate him. The best part is that he can keep opening the notes long after Father’s Day is over.
A Custom Snack Box
If your dad claims he doesn’t want gifts but always steals your snacks, this one works every time. Get a box or basket and fill it with his favorite chips or candy, energy drinks or coffee, beef jerky, movie theater snacks, baseball cards, mini gadgets, hot sauce or anything random he’s obsessed with. It’s easy to build, personal and will give your dad a few of his fave things to brighten up his Father’s Day.

That way you’re not peeling things off and wishing you’d done it differently. A Mini “Dad Museum”
This one is actually *so* cute if you want something more creative. Use a poster board or tri-fold board and turn it into a mini exhibit about your dad’s life. Include old photos, printed-out dad jokes, “fun facts,” favorite sayings, childhood pictures, awards or memories or a timeline of iconic dad moments. It’s totally funny, personal and def something he won’t expect.
A “Dad Day” Instead of a Gift
Sometimes dads genuinely don’t want presents. They just want time with the people they love. In this case, opt to plan a full day around things he likes. You could take him to breakfast at his favorite diner, golfing, fishing, watching old movies, grilling outside, going to a baseball game, hiking or take him driving around listening to his favorite music. Even something simple like spending the whole day together without everyone being distracted by phones can mean more than an expensive gift.
