Gift guide: Gifts that give back

We've had Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now we're *finally* tapping into Giving Tuesday, the day within all of this shopping madness that allows us to *not* feel guilty about dropping tons of cash. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving and kicks off the charitable season.

One of the best ways to get involved is by purchasing meaningful presents that give back to others. You can give back any time of the year, but this day is a perfect time to start helping out others around the world.

Make a donation to charity in a friend's name

On Giving Tuesday, many choose to donate a sum of money to a charity that they support. Instead of a charity that *you* support, ask a friend what they're passionate about. Maybe they want to help refugees, allow women to take charge of their reproductive health, support our troops or feed the hungry. You can make a donation in their name and then present them with the certificate. So sweet!

Alex and Ani's Charity by Design bracelet, $21-38

Add a meaningful, yet oh-so-fab bracelet to your BFF’s jewelry collection. Each design corresponds to a certain charity such as Toys For Tots, Best Buddies, UNICEF and many more. Alex and Ani will donate 20 percent of the purchase price to the organization you choose.

State Mini Kane Backpack, $45

What better gift to give than a new cute bag? For each STATE backpack sold, this brand hand delivers a stylish bag that is full of essentials to an American child in need. You’ll definitely make both your friend *and* a child in need happy.

Dogs Are People Too T-shirt

$10 from every T-shirt sold will be donated to the ASPCA. They're available only at Equinox starting today, so grab 'em while you can! If you can't get this shirt, n: Philanthrophy is giving 40 percent off of everything on their site today, and the brand donates 10 percent of their net proceeds to animal welfare and pediatric cancer research. Talk about generous.

The Giving Key Classic Necklace, $42

Originally inspired by a NYC hotel room key, this necklace is a trendy gift that your friend will *love*. It can be paired with everyday styles and add the perfect amount of bling they’ll need. The company will donate 10 percent of your purchase to their partner, Chrysalis, who provides low-income and homeless individuals with the skills and confidence needed for employment. How thoughtful!

Coffee First mug, $18

Got a friend that *adores* coffee (or tea)? This mug doesn’t only have a totally true saying on it, it also helps people. With every mug purchased, The Created Co. donates 10 percent of the profits to Charity: Water in order to help fund water projects aiding those in need.

Lush Charity Pot, $7.95-27.95

There’s nothing like opening a fresh, *amazing* gift from Lush. This product ensures that your skin stays healthy and smooth, while leaving you with a lasting, floral scent. Being the wonderful company they are, Lush donate 100 percent of the price to grassroots organizations working in areas of environmental conservation and human rights. Your pal will feel good using the lotion and the Earth will feel even better with your purchase!

Love Your Melon beanie, $30

A beanie is a great item to have now that the weather is getting colder. This brand’s hats will keep your friend both warm and stylish. They also give a hat to every child battling cancer in America *and* support nonprofit organizations to help fight against pediatric cancer. Now that’s a true gift that gives back.
