Been watching OBX and suddenly caught the summer adventure fever (not scientifically a thing, but we swear it’s real)? DW, girl—there’s still time to squeeze in one last hurrah before school takes over.
And no, you don’t need a boat, a blue crown or Sarah Cameron-level disregard for personal safety. Grab your besties (or head out solo) and turn one ordinary summer afternoon into a string of tiny side quests. Your final summer memory? Pending!
Hunt for hidden treasure
PSA: We can’t promise real gold, but this activity is sooo Outer Banks coded (minus running from the law, ofc). Download the official Geocaching app and see what’s hiding around your neighborhood. Follow the coordinates, solve any clues and hunt down the tiny container waiting at the end.
Some caches even let you swap small trinkets, so bring along a friendship bracelet, sticker or handmade keychain to leave behind (which is basically a crafty activity in itself).
Be a tourist in your own town
You’ve probably walked past the same museum, historic building or mildly Insta-famous café forever while thinking, I’ll go someday. Congrats: Someday is today. Dress like you’re on vacation, take shameless tourist pics and visit somewhere you’d recommend to a friend coming from out of town.
Create a photo scavenger hunt

Before you leave, write a list of 10 semi-rare items everyone has to photograph: something heart-shaped, a dog wearing a pink collar, the number 17, twinning outfits, the most beautiful store window art you can find…
Split up or complete it together, then compare camera rolls over snacks afterward. Disposable or instant cameras make for extra cute and old-school-style photos, but your regular phone camera works just as well.
$10 budget challenge
Give everyone the same budget and take turns choosing what happens next. One person might spend theirs on candy from an international grocery store—and another could find a thrift-store accessory everyone has to style for a photo.
Leave a little kindness
Write a few short anonymous notes (think: “Your outfit eats,” “Hope something good happens today” or even a terrible Mom joke) and leave them somewhere for another person to discover. You could tuck one into a Little Free Library, add an encouraging sticky note to a community noticeboard or leave a sweet message with a tip at your fave café. Tiny quest for you, potentially adorbs surprise for somebody else.
Chase the sunset

Grab blankets, drinks and your fave snacks, then head somewhere with a gorg sunset view. Each person has to bring one addition to the picnic without telling anyone else first (surprise spreads = the best). Make a shared playlist for the occasion and bam, you’ve got yourself a lil outdoor party moment.
Find a funky souvenir

Hit a thrift store, flea market or garage sale and find something that *screams* your summer vibe. Maybe that’s a ceramic dolphin, an old postcard, a seashell picture frame or one of those vintage ladybug pocket watch necklaces.
The only thing left to do? Pick your quest, charge your phone and go create one last piece of summer lore! School can have you back tomorrow.
