For many of us, Greece, the Amalfi Coast and Cabo are places we’ve only seen on our Insta feeds. The truth is, for the vast majority of gals, watching Mamma Mia! is the closest we’re getting to that dreamy European summer. But sometimes, it’s not about where you are in the world—but what you’re doing with your summer. From playing Uno on the beach to exploring local museums, here’s how you can turn your vacation dreams into staycation realities…
Keep Busy

Doomscrolling, waking up past noon and never changing out of our pajamas are things we’re all guilty of (sorry, mom!). But as tempting as some much-needed R&R can be, we wouldn’t want to spend our *entire* vacay watching Reels in our hotel room, right? When we’re on vacay, we like to venture out and explore the city. So open up Google Maps and search for lunch and dinner spots within walking distance of your house, then fill in the gaps with fun activities to pass the time. Think thrifting with friends, exploring a nearby museum or going on a peaceful hike.
Change The Scenery

Longing for those tropical sunset views but instead find yourself looking out of your bedroom window? We get it–there’s nothing better than stepping out of your hotel room to palm trees and salty seas. But while we can’t promise you Greece’s blue oceans or Cabo’s cozy beaches, we can promise a local park or nearby sunset spot will do just the trick. Bring a friend, card deck and your fave comfort snacks to your neighborhood park’s picnic table and let Mother Nature show you that nature’s beauty doesn’t cost a penny (much less a plane ticket).
Find Something New To Do In Town

Hometowns don’t always have to feel familiar. You probably feel like you know your city inside and out, but TBH? There’s always room to explore. Whether it’s grabbing lunch at the new diner downtown or checking out a new boutique, trying something you’ve never done before is the definition of a *perfect* vacay. The best part? You might find a new fave local spot along the way.
Many of us spend all summer waiting for the fun to find us, when really…it’s been right in front of us this entire time. Plan a fun-packed day or take a walk with no destination–either way, we promise–those vacay vibes aren’t as far away as you might think.
