When people hear Mother’s Day, they usually think of celebrating their mom, and ofc, that matters! But for a lot of girls, there are so many other women who help shape their lives in just as meaningful ways. Maybe it’s your grandma who always gives the best advice, your aunt who feels like your second mom, an older sister who basically raised you or a stepmom who shows up for everything. Or, maybe it’s even a dance teacher, mentor, coach or family friend who always checks in and believes in you.
The truth is, “mom figures” come in so many forms, and this holiday is the perfect excuse to remind those women how much they mean to you. The best part? You don’t need a huge budget or some over-the-top plan to make someone feel loved. Sometimes the smallest gestures mean the most.
Write a Note They’ll Actually Keep
A heartfelt note will always matter more than a rushed text. Instead of just saying “Happy Mother’s Day,” tell them why they matter to you. Mention a memory you’ll never forget, something they taught you or a moment they showed up for you when you needed it most. Even a simple handwritten card can become something they keep forever.
Make a Memory Jar
This is one of the cutest ideas because it feels personal and thoughtful without costing much. Grab a mason jar, a small box or even decorate an old container you already have. Fill it with little folded notes, favorite memories, reasons you appreciate them, inside jokes or things you’ve learned from them. It’s basically a gift they can open again and again. Bonus points if you make it colorful and extra cute.
Plan Time Together
Sometimes, quality time is the best gift. Instead of focusing on buying something expensive, plan something simple like a coffee date, movie night at home, brunch together, a walk around town, baking their favorite dessert, a Target run, mani-pedis or watching old family videos. Shared memories usually mean more than random gifts ever could.
