5 steps to never getting razor burn again

Ahh, there's nothing like the feeling of freshly shaved legs. Uh, until you hit that painful dry patch that means only one thing: razor burn. It's the bane of *every* girl's shower existence. To help you score sleek stems minus the sting, we asked Karen Young, founder of Oui Shave, to share her hair-removal hacks below.

1. Start with clean, exfoliated skin. Exfoliating before you shave helps lift hair off of your skin, preventing both razor burn and ingrown hairs.

2. Use a clean, sharp razor. Using a dull razor is basically begging for razor burn. Keep yours sharp by rinsing it with hot water before and after each use.

3. Shave at the end of your shower or bath. Hot water helps soften hair making it easier to remove and therefore less prone to razor burn.

4. Use a shave oil (like Oui Shave’s Lavan Shave Oil). Using water alone or (gasp!) soap and water can cause the razor to drag on your skin, causing razor burn.

5. Shave *with* the grain. Forget what you thought you knew about shaving because going against the grain causes irritation, which is a major no-no for preventing razor burn.
