Help me straighten up!

I can't seem to ever straighten up my back. I’m far from hunchbacked, but I feel as the days go on I’m getting more and more slouchy. I am even starting to get pain in my back at times. Is there anyway I can help myself to straighten up a little before it’s too late?

Slouching and having bad posture are common problems among tweens and teens, but there are definitely things you can do to straighten up.  Besides being conscious of how you’re sitting or standing and correcting bad alignment, try doing a wall exercise.  Just stand against a wall with your shoulders pressed back, chin held high, and your tailbone tucked in.  If you do this exercise 10 times every day, your posture is guaranteed to improve.

Practicing yoga or pilates is another great way to improve posture and straighten your back.  The moves that you do will both stretch and build muscles, which is why doctors claim these exercises are the number one way to improve your posture. The sooner you roll out that yoga mat and work on your downward dog, the sooner you’ll straighten up.  Another way to stop slouching? Sleep with only one pillow, which will make sure your neck and spine stay aligned, providing you with the ultimate posture. Say goodbye to back pain!
