EXERCISE HARDER—WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT!

ADD A WARM-UP…AND A COOL DOWN
Instead of just jumping to your intense cardio (like running, swimming or biking), take five to get your muscles warm by walking or slowly jogging. Your bod will respond better to the exercise AND you’ll get in a few extra minutes of heart-pumping fitness. After you’ve finished, do a five-minute cardio cool down.

GO SPLITSIES
Think you just can’t bear to do another lunge or bicep curl? Break up boredom by splitting up your weight-lifting sets with abs. Example? Do one set of 12 lunges, do 10 crunches and then go back to finish your 12 lunges. You’ll give your bod a break and work on getting flat abs.

MAKE A MINI ROUTINE
This weekend, create a 10-minute workout that’s totally fun. Mix up your faves, like jumping jacks, squats, bicycles, push-ups and mountain-climbers. Write it down and make a playlist to match. The next time you don’t have time to do a full-out workout, do your mini routine. Still have extra time? Go through it twice!

MAKE WORKING OUT PART OF YOUR WEEKEND
It’s easy to wanna crash on the couch after school ends on Friday. Instead, energize the weekend by trying out fun activities with your friends. Have each of your friends pick out and organize a get-fit sesh for the crew. It doesn’t have to be crazy-intense, either. A backyard kickball tourney, a workout DVD (followed by smoothies), a day swishin’ on the slopes, a charity 5K (walk it if you don’t think you can run 3.1 miles!)—whatever. You and the besties will get in a major cardio blast while havin’ a blast.
