WE TRIED IT: Pilates Class

Hate exercising? It's okay, you can admit it, because I do too! You probably ask yourselves the same question I ask myself everyday: What can I do to stay fit? For me the answer is simple: group exercise classes at your local gym, more specifically Pilates or yoga.

Pilates is a perfect workout for those of us who aren't so athletically inclined. It's fast, effective and will leave you more relaxed than when you started! The instructors are trained to teach multiple levels of Pilates, so whether you're a beginner or a guru, this workout is definitely for you! It may not leave you winded like jogging or biking, but it works to strengthen your core (your torso).

Most classes consist of a 5 to 10 minute stretch period where you loosen up those tight muscles in your arms, legs, back, neck and abdomen. You'll also do yoga-esque stretches that force you to hold positions, time your breathing and pump arms or legs up and down in sets of 10 or 20, all the while keeping those core muscles taught. It may sound tricky, but you’ll get the hang of it!

The classes last about 45 minutes and take place in a studio setting. You can bring a friend or go by yourself, either way you're sure to have a blast! Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and drink a ton of H2O. You won't be dying from exhaustion, but you will be stretching and flexing, inhaling and exhaling, and definitely sweating!

Kudos to my all-star athletes out there, but for those less-than-athletic types, I'll see you at the Pilates studio!
