The 5 minute meditation that'll revolutionize your mornings

Mornings can be seriously stressful. But before you jump out of bed and begin your hectic day, try taking five minutes for this mini-meditation. Done daily, it can bring the focus and relaxation you need to get ready for whatever comes your way. Follow the steps below to get in your zen zone.

1. Start by setting your alarm for five minutes—you want to make sure you're relaxed, not asleep.

2. While lying in bed or sitting in a chair, close your eyes and rest your arms at your side or in a comfortable position. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, then exhale (also through your nose). Repeat five times.

2. Continue your deep breathing for five breaths, but turn your focus to the space between your eyebrows, known to yogis as the third eye.

3. Place your hands on your chest. Inhale deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth while focusing on the rising and falling of your ches for five controlled breaths.

4. Place your arms back at your sides. Continue to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth for five slow breaths, but bring your attention back to the third eye.

5. This time, place your hands on your stomach. Continue the same breathing pattern for five super deep breaths, concentrating on the rise and fall of your stomach.

6. Bring your arms back to your sides and bring your attention back to the third eye for five final deep breaths. Get up and start your day relaxed and refreshed!
