The surprising secret to beating acne? More bacteria

We know that zits and pimples and all that redness you see from time to time is caused by bacteria inflaming your pores. But there's something new on the science see that might just help you clear up your skin once and for all. The secret solution? More bacteria.
You see, a group of researchers at UCLA discovered that people with clear skin and people with pimply skin all have one type of bacteria in common, but the pimply people have a "bad" strain of it that seems to cause zits while the clear-skinned people have a "good" strain that dominates--and wipes out--the bad.
Currently, our acne-fighting face washes get rid of all bacteria, both the good and the bad kinds. And while that clears up your skin for a little while, many people see the zits and redness return, especially if they take a break from their pimple-busting regimen. The key to the skin we're all dying for might be a face wash that can clear out the bad stuff while leaving the goodies behind to protect your pores.
While more research still needs to be done--and then skin products would have to be developed--it's certainly cheering to know that those of us with not-so-hot skin could be seeing a solution in the not-too-distant future.
