3 tips for picking the perfect sports camp

Still haven't decided how you’re going to up those skills this summer? Here are the three questions you should ask yourself before deciding what kind of camp to attend.

Will you go solo or with your squad?
Before you decide where to send that final deposit, ask around and find out if your teammates are going to any camps or clinics as well. You might be aching to go to a cool field hockey camp in a sunny locale, but if your entire team is headed to a diff spot, you might want to consider tagging along with them. That said, spend time thinking about what will be best for improving your moves. If you tend net, spending a week at camp that focuses on goalies might be just the thing.

Will you travel near or far?
Obviously, sleepaway camps can be pricey. Even if your parents say “no way” to you heading outta town for athletics, consider local day camp options. Maybe nearby college might have a clinic you can carpool to with a teammate or friend. Or perhaps the varsity quad is hosting a camp for younger players.  Summer is the perfect time to hone your talent so start looking now for all the opportunities you can.

What sport will you select?

If you’re a multi-sport athlete, it can be tough to narrow down your field of options (especially if you’re only allowed to pick one camp). Before making a speedy decision, weigh out the pros and cons and figure out what you’re trying to get out of your week away. Do you really want to take your skills to the next level? Do you want to simply spend a ton of time playing the sport you love the most? Figure out your mission and it should make your decision easier.
What kind of camp do you want to go to this summer, sweeties?
