Eat Right

Eat right Q: What would Katniss do?

The health and fitness gurus at DailyBurn have teamed up to give us the ultimate Hunger Games diet, based on the meat and produce-heavy Paleo diet. Ya don’t have to go hardcore—and should definitely talk to your doc before making significant changes to your current diet—but ascribing to these three ideas can help you up the energy and healthfulness of your current regimen. Adding in lean protein and fresh produce? That’s a plus in our book! Still not convinced? Just ask yourself: What would Katniss do?

Eat for fuel

Eat frequent, small meals made from fresh foods to keep your body in fighting condition throughout the day. Plan ahead and carry on-the-go snacks like trail mix made with nuts and raisins, or a piece of fruit with some nut butter.

Help your ‘rents with meal prep

Buying new and separate foods for your meal plan might not be convenient for your mom and dad. How about making it extra convenient for them by helping them out? Offer to go with your parent on their weekly grocery shopping trip and pick out some new fresh foods that aren't typically on your family's dinner table. Then, offer to prepare an easy Hunger Games-themed meal for the whole family. This tip is a double whammy: you'll give your parents a night off, and you'll be cooking a fun, healthy meal.

Appreciate what ya eat!

Nature offers us a variety of foods that most of us have never tried before. As we learned in The Hunger Games, it's important to appreciate all of the wonderful smells and flavors of the foods that we have access to. Start becoming a food appreciator by trying one new kind of vegetable per week. You never know! You may find a new favorite.
