Turn that summer fling into something more
Summer has (sadly!) drifted away, but that doesn't mean your summer fling has to disappear, too! You can totally keep your relationship with your cutie going into the school year. You two are bound to be #relationshipgoals—all you have to do is try! Here's how.
Make time for each other
The *most* important thing to do is to make time for each other! Your whole summer has been an oasis with no commitments, but once you head back to school you’ll have homework, sports, friends, student government and so much more. Make sure that you don’t forget about your new boo.
Keep in contact
Whether you go to the same school or live in different states, you have to keep in touch! Talk to each other about big stuff or little stuff. It doesn’t really matter, as long as you’re still talking. If your summer fling goes LDR, set up a regular time to FaceTime.
Make an effort!
Just because you have school stuff to do doesn’t mean you should stop putting effort into your relationship! Keep getting to know your girl or guy and doing sweet li'l things for them. They won’t go unnoticed.
Incorporate your bae into your core clique
Let your friends get to know bae and let bae get to know them. It’s *always* easier to balance dating and friends when your SO knows your squad. If they hit it off, you can do stuff together!
Make sure you’re on the same page
Does your BF or GF want to continue the relationship once summer ends? If they’re not interested, or at least willing to give it a chance, it might be better to call it quits.
Pick up the pace!
Once the newness of a relationship wears off, things can get boring. If that's your case, try out some new date activities, keep flirting with each other and try out new activities together to get things interesting. Being together was fun all summer long. Now that it's fall, let's keep it that way!
Create new connections
Maybe you clicked over your love of a local ice cream stand, or perhaps you and your partner are both rockstar surfers. But with summer over, it's time for you to find a new common ground. Do you love the same movies, sports teams or classes? Find something new to bond over, and your relationship status will thank you.
