How to celebrate Valentine's Day in a long-distance relationship

You finally have that special someone to celebrate Valentine's Day with and you couldn't be more excited. The only catch? They live hundreds of miles away.

Although you might be missing your S.O extra today, try to push those sad feelings aside. Here are some Valentine's Day date ideas to beat those LDR blues.

Use Scener to watch movies together

Scener works as a Chrome extension and allows you and your partner to watch movies, shows and more from a variety of streaming sites. Choose a movie and invite your date to join the watch party, then press play and *voila*—you can both watch the same movie simultaneously while seeing each other via video chat. Deliver their favorite dinner to them

Really wishing you could go on a dinner date this Valentine's day? Lucky for you, apps like DoorDash, Grub Hub and Uber Eats have made delivering food to your S.O a whole lot easier! Surprise them with a meal from their favorite restaurant, then hop on a video chat with each other as you enjoy your dinner.

Send some meaningful snail mail

Although technology has made communicating easier than ever, there's nothing quite like receiving a heartfelt letter in the mail. Send your partner a homemade card with a cute note inside or package up some of their favorite candies and send it their way. If you need a gift last minute, check out these Valentine's day gift recs

Plan your next visit with each other

Whether it's 6 days or 6 months away, having a reunion to look forward to is very encouraging in a long-distance relationship. Take this Valentine's Day to put together a bucket list of *all* the things you want to do during your next visit together. Try out the new restaurant by you or take them on your favorite local hike. Write down anything you've wanted to do together and get to planning.

Don't focus on being apart (but celebrate the time you have together)

Valentine's Day can be bittersweet when you're long-distance. And while you want to celebrate your relationship and the love you have for each other, you can't help but miss them. Remember that the distance is temporary and try not to let your feelings of sadness get in the way of having a great day. Whether it's Valentine's Day or not, cherish every phone call, text and FaceTime. Be intentional with the time you spend apart and together. Long distance isn't always easy, but it *is* a testament to how much you care for each other.
