Graphic lines, sharp angles and stunning shapes—spring’s best looks are a cool combo of artwork and arithmetic.
Acute set of nails
Trendy (and undeniably fierce) talons dominated the spring fashion week runways. Get instant length by applying a set of extra-long press-ons, then “clip the sides into a V-shape and file the tips to a point,” explains celebrity manicurist Gina Edwards. Complete the look with artwork that speaks to you. “For Prabal Gurung, I created mismatched designs using a thin brush to make light strokes in unexpected patterns,” she adds. The result? Anything but plane (get it?).
Color arc eyes
Pupils pop when you choose unexpected shades like magenta and teal. Makeup artist Judi Gabbay suggests applying a few clusters of falsies, then “once everything is dry, apply your mascara, wiggling the wand from the base of your lashes up to build volume and drama.” Layering a few coats is key to making the color truly stand out. Bonus points to anyone bold
enough to go all in with a 360-degree shade.
Parallel line(r)s
“The secret to a crisp, bold lip is liner,” reveals makeup artist Danni Katz. “Make sure your pencil is freshly sharpened and fill in the entire lip first before applying your lipstick.” Want to give your vertex (aka Cupid’s bow) some volume? Slightly overline your natural lip shape, then layer a matching shade on top for a perfectly pillowy pout.
Straight edge fringe
Lean into the indie sleaze aesthetic with a fresh set of blunt bangs. Warning: This look isn’t low-maintenance—make sure you’re willing to style your hair daily and be prepared to swing by the salon for a trim every few weeks to keep your fringe fresh, advises hairstylist Marwa Bashir. The finishing touch? A pass with a flat iron to achieve that sleek, pin-straight effect.
Graphic hair
Apply gel or pomade to damp, clean strands for control. Then, use the pointed end of the rat tail comb to carve precise, geometric lines into your hair, combing through from the root to define and hold the shape, shares IGK co-founder Leo Izquierdo. For added definition (and high style marks), try a slicked-back look, like braids or a bun.
3D florals
Adding flowers to your hair lets you experiment with texture, color and dimension for a dreamy, romantic vibe, says IGK co-founder Aaron Grenia. Try botanical hair clips or a headband (or get crafty by hot-gluing bobby pins or elastics to faux flowers). Weave through a braid or tuck into an updo. Nothing two-dimensional about it.
