You’ve locked in your first-day outfit formula, your fresh stationery is waiting on your desk and your morning alarm (or three) is set. But somehow, the night before a new school year always seems to fly by sooo fast. Don’t panic, girl—we’ve put together the ultimate low-stress evening reset so tomorrow morning can be an absolute breeze.
Peep tomorrow’s sched
Before you shove every notebook you own into your backpack, pull up your timetable and see what you actually need. Double-check room numbers, lunch times and any first-day announcements while you’re there. Be sure to cross-check with your BFF so you guys know when you’ll be able to snag seats together!
Pack the stuff you always forget
Notebook? Easy. Pencil case? Obvi. Now for the sneaky essentials: student ID, charger, headphones, house key, period products, lip balm and a hair tie. Do one final sweep tonight so tomorrow you aren’t turning your entire bedroom upside down.
Plan your fit
And we mean the *entire* OOTD. Top, bottoms, socks, shoes, accessories—the lot. Check the forecast too, because that adorable knit you’ve been planning since July might feel significantly less adorable in 85-degree humidity. (Sweating through first period? Hard pass.)
Charge. Literally. Everything

Phone. Laptop. Headphones. Portable charger. If it has a battery, plug it in. Then pop everything straight into your backpack once it’s charged so you don’t leave your laptop sitting peacefully on your desk while you’re halfway to school.
Give your camera roll a mini clean-out
First-day selfies, lunch pics and approximately 47 blurry photos your bestie insists on taking = storage required. Delete old screenshots, clear out duplicate pics and make sure your fave school apps are updated. Nothing kills photo-dump energy quite like the dreaded “Storage Full” notif.
Prep breakfast + lunch

You don’t need to meal-prep like a fitness influencer. Just do whatever makes life easier: fill your water bottle, pack a snack, prep lunch and decide what you’re eating for breakfast. Even putting your cereal bowl on the counter counts.
Set up your getting-ready station
Put your brush, skincare, deodorant and whatever makeup you’re planning to wear somewhere easy to grab. If you’re doing your hair, lay out your tools (don’t plug them in overnight though, bb!) and set out any clips or ties tonight. No crawling under your bed looking for your claw clip with one shoe on, pls.
Take an everything shower

If a long shower, glossy hair or freshly painted nails makes you feel a little more put-together, tonight’s your moment (well, technically your conditioner’s moment) to shine. Throw on your comfiest PJs after, do your usual skincare and resist the temptation to panic-buy a 12-step beauty routine at Sephora. The night before school is not exfoliation-experiment time.
Cue your morning soundtrack
Are you H-O-T-T-O-G-O!? (Chappell Roan is the get-us-up-in-the-morning anthem queen, no ifs or buts tyvm). Psst: Pick out the intro songs of alll your fave 2000s movies (think: Mean Girls, Clueless, She’s The Man and Legally Blonde). Guaranteed to get you dancing and out of bed (sorta) on time (100% success rate, don’t ask how we know).
Put your phone on DND
One last GRWM won’t hurt…until it’s suddenly 1:14 a.m (oops). Set your alarms, plug your phone in somewhere you can’t mindlessly reach for it and give yourself a little screen-free wind-down time. First-day nerves are normal, but they’re wayyy less fun on four hours of sleep.
