The song starts dramatically (as most of Lorde's music does) and then quickly switches to upbeat piano, going back and forth between the two throughout the song. Lorde sings about a breakup and her want for independence, something that we cal *all* relate to. The video shows that, too, as Lorde dances alone, leaves the club alone and boogies on top of her Uber driver's car...alone.

About the track, the 20-year-old singer told Beats 1 radio, "The song is about a heartbreak and it's not something that I really am used to writing about. It took me a while to figure out how to write about that."
