Must List

The Kicks cast share behind-the-scenes secrets!

With the 2016 Olympics done and gone, we've been on the hunt *all week* for another show to fill the void The Fab Five, Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps left in our hearts. When we stumbled upon Amazon's new series, The Kicks, we squealed with excitement.

The show, out today, is based on a book series of the same name by U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist and current U.S. Women’s National Team soccer player, Alex Morgan. The show follows the life of the seriously dedicated athlete Devin Burke (Sixx Orange) who adores soccer. When Devin moves across the country in the middle of the school year—gasp!—and has to reroot herself in an entirely new school and soccer team, she doesn't exactly get on well at first. But with a li'l help from her new pals and teammates—Emma (Sophia Mitri Schloss), Zoe (E'myri Crutchfield), Mirabelle (Isabella Acres) and even her bro, Bailey (Gabe Eggerling)—Devin just may find her footing.

What's even better is that together, The Kicks show off just how amazingly smart, strong and independent girls are, and that's something we *always* love to see. The IRL team—Sixx, Sophia, E'myri, Isabella and Gabe—got along so well, says Gabe. "I have some true friendships after bonding on set. We had trailer parties at lunch, fun in the classroom and cool guest stars," he added.

Sixx—aka Devin Burke—shares it all on...

...her amazing friends and fam. I have lived in Maryland all my life besides these past two years, so everyone and everything I know is there. My friends are honestly the best ever because they push me and motivate me to work hard everyday. My family is always there for me and supports me in everything I do as well. I couldn’t do this without them.

...her happy place and connecting with her character. Devin and I have a lot in common! We both had mutual feelings about moving to California and we were both nervous about entering this stereotypical "golden place" where everyone succeeds. The field is our happy place.

...her haute hair. Whenever I go to get my hair colored I pretty much just tell the colorist to do what they want! I like for them to be able to be creative and have fun with their talent.

    E'myri—the loveable Zoe—spills on...

...playing Zoe. My favorite thing about playing her is how outgoing and energetic she is. I get to step out my comfort zone, which is hard but a fun challenge as well.

...her personal style. I dress depending on how I feel, so my style is all over the place. For the most part, I love comfortable clothes.

    Isabella—Mirabelle on The Kicks—dishes about...

...being bold. Mirabelle is fun to play because she is adventurous and not afraid to speak her mind. She doesn’t hold back. When she wants something, she goes for it!

...feelin' the beat. Every day after lunch, I would invite the cast into my trailer to have trailer dance parties and hang out! I decorated the inside with a disco ball, mini strobe lights and string lights for maximum club effect.

...her eclectic style. I’m in love with fashion and like to explore all types of styles—funky vintage, edgy, sleek, elegant, comfortable and boho. I dress to express how I feel.

    Here, Sophia—who plays Emma—talks about...

...speaking her mind. Emma and I are alike in many ways—we both love soccer and the friendships it brings. Neither of us are passive and we’re both not afraid to be opinionated.

...kickin' it off set. I did play soccer before The Kicks. I play on my school’s soccer team in Seattle, and also on an indoor team during the winter. And of course I love playing with my friends at recess! It’s such a fun sport, and it brings out a lot of really great skills that you can use not just on the field: Teamwork, friendship and hard work.

...being herself. I just do my best to be the best me. I don’t try to be anyone else. I am my own person, I have my strengths and weaknesses, but I’m OK with that.

Gabe—Devin's bro, Bailey—fills us in on...

...being well-read. I love that The Kicks is based on a book series, but the writers add so many surprises to the storylines. There is something for everyone to get excited about.

...his philanthropic side. It really feels good to help people and know that I have the power to make a difference in someone's day. It sounds too simple, but I think that is exactly the point.

...his go-to look. My style is definitely classic, although I love a good graphic t-shirt and kicks...you gotta have cool kicks!
