Rachel Crow tackles meanies, dudes and lemonade in new EP

Though it was a shock to see her eliminated on The X Factor last season, it’s no surprise Rachel Crow, the sweet little girl with the big voice (and a clear fave of Simon Cowell) is moving on to bigger and better things.

Not only does she have a recurring role on Nickelodeon’s Fred: The Show, but she’s also going on tour with Big Time Rush in July, debuting songs from her self-titled EP, set to release this Tuesday, June 26. We got a sneak peek at the five tracks on her new EP and we’re officially obsessed with this talented star!

The first track, “Mean Girls,” may have a soft and quiet beat, but Rachel’s voice remains strong and powerful throughout. It tells the story of all those who feel like an outcast, whether you’re eating lunch all alone or being called names. The emboldening chorus (“Mean girls, you no longer rule my world”) encourages every girl being bullied out there to stand up for themselves and not let the meanies get to you anymore.

“Rock With You” (ft. Mann) is more of an upbeat song with a funky beat. Rachel’s flawless voice carries a fun melody (“Don’t turn your back on the sound, ‘cause I really wanna rock with you, boy!), while Mann comes in with some rap—and, surprisingly, it fits!

“Lemonade” is a chill, breezy song, perfect to blast sitting poolside, sippin’, well, lemonade! It’s a lighthearted track with positive lyrics like “glass is half full” and “life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”

“My Kind of Wonderful” is an adorable love song that’s still got some kick to it. A snappy beat goes along well with Rachel’s cute lyrics about her friends not understanding the appeal to a guy who’s “barely as tall as me.” But she doesn’t care what they think—he makes her “heart go boom, boom, boom!”

“What A Song Can Do” is a simple jam with a steady beat, perfect for hearing the incredible accuracy with which Rachel smoothly hits her notes. This track is all about the power of music and how songs can help us escape from our problems. Perfection!

After listening to Rachel Crow’s self-titled EP, it’s clear this 14-year-old girl has mad talent. And her simple, relatable tunes are ones you don’t want to miss! Rachel may not have won The X Factor, but she’s won our hearts for sure!
