WATCH: This powerful video raises awareness about child marriages

BØRNEfonden, is Denmark’s largest development organization that seeks to raise awareness about global issues, especially those of children. They sponsor more than 60,000 children in African countries such as Mali, Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso. With the help of people in Denmark, the org supports these children by giving them an education, proper meals and safe homes.

In their latest project, they are raising awareness about child marriages. In fact, 15 percent of girls in Mali get married before the age of 15 and start to raise kids. The organization’s motto, “Transform wedding dresses into school uniforms,” is helping put a spotlight on the consequences of marriage at such a young age. No child should ever be forced to get married, but every child—boy *and* girl—deserves the freedom to education.

BØRNEfonden recently released an experiment, putting fathers of little girls in a tough position. A *huge* shock to the family, a 30-year-old actor was sent to ask permission to marry their 13-year-old daughters. To see their reactions, watch the video below.

Children deserve to enjoy their childhood, not grow out of it too quickly. To become a sponsor and help the organization in their mission, click here.
