Snapchat glasses? Here's what you need to know

Just when we thought Snapchat couldn’t get any better, the company just announced that they have created their own glasses. We know. Crazy, right? These new “spectacles” have a single button that you press to begin recording any 10-second video while wearing them. From the outside, they look completely normal, but while wearing them, you get to look back on all of the memories recorded from the glasses and the app. CEO of the Wall Street Journal, Evan Spiegel, said that wearing them was like seeing his memory through his own eyes.

Snap says the product should be released later in the fall for a retail price of $130. Not bad when you compare them to the $1,500 Google glasses. The sunglasses were designed by fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld, ensuring that they are not only a fun toy, but also a style statement for people of all ages. While they’re easy to wear out and about, their sole purpose is not to go overboard with recording everything in our daily life. The company is trying to compare their product to the sensational GoPro, used to take photos and videos of adventurous moments. They’re even calling themselves a “camera company” rather than a social network. Looks like they want to focus more on photography now.

As cute as the puppy filter is on Snapchat, this new feature totally beats that. How awesome would it be to literally watch your past through your own eyes? This is just one small part of where the future is going to take us.

Will you put the new Snapchat spectacles on your Christmas list this year? Let us know what you think about this new ‘accessory’ in the comments below!
