Feel Good Friday: Jayci Glover leaves her mark on her school in the most unselfish way imaginable

Scoring the championship-winning soccer goal. Organizing your school’s first-ever Battle of the Bands. Even if it’s a gesture as small as tutoring another student, we all dream about leaving a legacy at our high school.

Then there’s 13-year-old Jayci Glover, who found the most selfless and heartwarming way to make her mark. For over a year Jayci has battled a rare and terminal form of lymphoma. Most of her time has been spent in Salt Lake City, nearly five hours away from her friends and school in her hometown Kenab, Utah.

When Make-A-Wish asked what she wanted, she turned down the usual meet a celebrity or turn a comic book hero for the day wish (which, by the way, is one of our favorite stories of the past year--read it!). Instead she became a real-life hero and gave her gift to her school.

Recently she came home for her school’s basketball game. Just as with any hero’s welcome, the town packed in the gym, bringing signs and sporting “Fight Like Jayci” tees. There, Make-A-Wish gave her a check for $7500, which she promptly gave to her principal. The money will go towards her high school’s much-need scoreboard. Game point to Jayci!
