Sober honors student punished for driving a drunk friend home

When Erin got a call two weeks ago from a friend who was drunk and at a party, asking her for a ride, she did what any good friend with a license and a set of wheels would do: drove to the party to take her pal home. Except Erin ran into a spot of bad luck when she got to the party. Minutes after she pulled up, the cops appeared. And while she was cleared by the police, her school isn't taking too kindly to her proximity to alcohol.

Despite her honor student rep and the lack of alcohol in her system, Erin, a high school senior, was demoted from her position as volleyball team captain and suspended from playing in five games, CBS News reports. Her school says that she violated their zero tolerance policy toward alcohol. She and her family and the rest of the community aren't keeping quiet about the perceived injustice, though. Her family filed suit against the school--though the judge ruled that the court did not have jurisdiction--and a petition is currently circulating in favor of reversing the school's punishment.

Let's say you were in charge of Erin's punishment. Would you punish her for helping a friend--and if so, how--or would you applaud her actions? Talk it out in the comments, babes!
