Meet Home Alone's newest star, Jodelle Ferland

If you’re a fan of the classic Home Alone movies, then you’re in for a treat! ABC Family is premiering the fifth installment of the franchise tomorrow night, Nov. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT and we can’t wait for you to check it out.

In Home Alone: The Holiday Heist, Finn (Christian Martyn) isn’t too thrilled about spending the holidays in his new home. His fam just relocated from sunny Cali to Maine…and into a house that he’s convinced is haunted. So when Finn’s parents are stranded across town and he’s left home alone with his sis Alexis (Jodelle Ferland), he decides to set up a series of elaborate traps to catch the “ghost” in action, only to discover a group of thieves along the way.

We got a chance to catch up with 18-year-old Jodelle Ferland, who plays Finn’s sis, Alexis, and had her spill all on this latest Home Alone flick. Check it out.

GL:  What was your favorite scene to film in Home Alone: The Holiday Heist?
Jodelle: There was this one scene where Alexis had to confront the thieves that broke into her house. I don't want to give any of the plot away, but I will say I got to jump over a counter to escape the thieves. It was awesome!

How do you think this film will compare to the other Home Alone movies?
We all know it's hard to beat the first Home Alone movie—it's a classic. But this one comes pretty close! It has all the same things that made the others popular and it’s based on the same concept: a kid is left home alone and has to fend off thieves who are trying to break into his house. It's family-friendly, fun, heartwarming, and filled with laughs from start to finish.

Have a funny on-set memory you can share with us?
Well, actors aren't allowed to do anything dangerous while filming, so we have stunt doubles for most of our stunts. There was a scene where a Christmas tree was supposed to fall on me, so I did the beginning of the scene and then switched out with my stunt double who looked exactly like me from behind. It was pretty weird to watch because it really looked like it was me! Then, in the next scene, I had to get covered in pine needles to make it look like a tree had actually fallen on me. I'm really excited to see how that scene turns out!

If there was one thing you could’ve taken home from set with you, what would it have been and why?
Alexis had the coolest wardrobe. There was this really awesome leather bag, which I loved, and I actually got to keep it!
