ICYMI: Zendaya gave a super important speech last night at the TCA

One of the most fabulous awards shows, the Teen Choice Awards, rolled out the blue carpet last night and we. were. hooked. From Chloe Lukasiak to Yara Shahidi to Liza Koshy, tons of your fave celebs attended and some even snagged surfboards. Our baes in Riverdale took home eight awards, while Wonder Woman, Fifth Harmony, Ellen DeGeneres, Ed Sheeran and PLL also won awards last night. You can check out the full list of winners here.

Zendaya, who was nominated in six categories, came out on top in the Choice Summer Movie Star: Female category for her role in this summer's Spider-Man: Homecoming. She is crazy-talented and the award is so well-deserved, and we were even more impressed by what she said during her acceptance speech.

When Zendaya walked on stage to accept her surfboard, she had a message for her young fans:

"With all the injustice and the hatred and everything that is happening not only in the world but in our country, right now, I need for you young people to be educated. I need you to listen. I need you to pay attention. I need you to go ahead understand that you have a voice and it's OK to use it when you see something bad happening. Make sure that you stay educated, and you do not let people tell you what you think you should feel. You're the leaders. You're the future leaders of the world. You're future presidents. You're future senators. You guys are the ones who will make this world better. I'm just letting you know, right now, that you are the future. So take that very seriously."

It's likely that Z's speech was sparked by Saturday's events in Charlottesville, Va. And you know what? She's right. Your generation *is* going to become leaders one day, so stay educated and use your voice. Being young does *not* make you or your opinions less valid.

Tell us, and other GL girls, how you stay educated and use your voice in the comments below!
