Last minute festive and flirty NYE outfit hacks and tips

The night is finally here: New Year's Eve! You're all dolled up and ready to head to your besties for an epic party when your realize something: you can't find your favorite pair of heels, your tights have a run in them and your look is just *not* festive enough for NYE. How are you supposed to kiss your crush at midnight looking like this?! Cue the panic!

Not to worry. We've got you covered with these last minute NYE hacks and tips.

Fix the run in your tights

Tights are an absolute pain to get on and off, and not to mention the struggle to keep them pulled up and in place throughout the day or night. Getting a run in your tights is up there with the worst dressing disasters ever. To easily prevent a small run from becoming huge and unsightly, use clear nail polish. Dabbing it on the run will prevent it from getting bigger. Hairspray works the same way if you're desperate!

If it's a big hole or there are multiple runs, make it a ~*look*~ by creating even more runs with a pair of scissors. You'll look very Jenny Humphrey/Taylor Momsen and ring in the new year with a totally new vibe.

Scuff up new heels

Fact: there's nothing better than a new pair of shoes. Also fact: there's nothing worse than slipping and falling in said new shoes. To combat any slick dance floors, icy conditions or just plain clutzy occurrences, take your NYE shoes out for a spin before your plans this evening and scuff the bottoms on any pavement or rough surface. You can also do this indoors with a fluff of steel wool or a kitchen knife (with an adult's supervision, of course).

Belt it

This dress from Tobi is *beyond* perf for a NYE bash, but it would look leagues cuter (and more flattering) cinched in at the waist with a belt. If you're tired of all the party dresses in your closet, use this easy trick. Pick your fave and pair it with a skinny belt (or two!) to create an entirely new look.

DIY a choker

Any ordinary scrap piece of lace, leather cord or suede string can be made into a simple accessory. Just measure the material to fit your neck, cut if necessary and tie in the back. Easy as that!

Do the unexpected

There's no better night to take a fashion risk than on New Year's Eve, so go all out tonight. Pair lace and leather, velvet and knit or a dress with Adidas for a look that's all your own. Who knows, you just might make a totally cool trend for 2017.

When all else fails, just add sparkle

Whether it's glitter eyeshadow, a pair of shimmery tights, a sequin top or shimmer-filled lotion, there's no excuse to *not* be covered in glitter on Dec. 31. Cover yourself—and all your pals—in the glitzy stuff and commemorate the night with eye-catching Boomerangs.
