Here's why a cardigan should be your fall fashion BFF

Fashion has a never-ending love affair with cardigans. These timeless sweaters are the best garment for any season, but it's especially smart to invest in a few this fall. You can wear them on a day out, a family movie night or on a cozy evening in with your girls. In fact, no place comes to mind where a cardigan would be inappropriate to wear. Besides their wearability and timelessness, here are a few other reasons why a cardigan should be your go-to this season.

They go with *everything*

These cute sweaters will never end up in your bottom drawer or at the back of your closet because you can wear them year-round. They look great with jeans and a tee, a dress, or even thrown over your fave denim button-up like Emma Stone. Speaking of throwing your cardigan over a button-up...

They're perfect for layering

The summer to fall transition can be tough, especially with the fluctuating weather. The best way to beat it is layering up. Cardis paired with your favorite band T-shirt, shorts and sneakers?Yes, please! It works amazingly in the depths of fall, too, thrown over a T-shirt, a denim shirt (like above—just add jeans!) and paired with a scarf. Either way, add a fashion-forward hat and you're good to go.

They're super affordable

Stores like H&M, Forever 21 and Target have cardigans on the cheap so you can grab one of these gorgeous sweaters without emptying your piggy bank.

They'll *never* go out of style

Cardigans have been a major fashion staple for decades. There are classic styles like solid colors as well as trendy, kimono styles. No matter what, though, nobody can beat the effortlessness of Audrey Hepburn rocking this red cardi.

They are oh-so comfortable

On top of all the great things about cardigans, the best thing about them is their comfortability! By the end of the season, you'll be snuggled up next to the fireplace every night wrapped in the coziest cardi you can find, guaranteed.
