4 steps to glowing skin

Ever look at pictures of celebrities on the red carpet and wonder how they look lit from within? No, they aren’t any more special than the rest of us. They—and their team of pros—just know how to use makeup to achieve the perfect glowy look. Tan skin, dewy cheekbones and highlighted eyes are simple ways to create beautiful summer radiance.

Step 1: Fake it till you make it

No more horror stories of sunburn gone wrong! Applied correctly, tanning lotion can be a great way to bring some color to your complexion without frying your skin. Find the shade that works best to enhance your natural skin tone, read the directions on the back of the product, apply and—voila!—you have beautiful bronzed skin. If you like your skin without added color, no prob, just skip the tanner and go to step 2.

    Step 2: Contour, contour, contour

Bring out your natural glow with artfully placed bronzer. Using your favorite blush brush, lightly apply the powder to the outside edges of your face and underneath your jawline. Next, suck in your lips like a fish (trust us here!) and dust it in the hollows of your cheeks to bring out your cheekbones.

Step 3: Highlight your best features

Now we get to the real glowing part: the highlighter. Dust or rub the shimmery stuff over your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and the tip of your chin to get that dewy look. Be sure to blend it in well so it appears all natural.

    Step 4: Add some shimmer

Finally, shimmering eye shadow acts like the icing on the cake. Pick a shade much lighter than your skin tone and place it carefully in the inner corners of your eyes and just under the arch of your eyebrow. Not only will this make you look more awake, but it will also really give the glowing effect you’re looking for—just in time for summer.
