Rock the coolest color of 2013: Emerald green

These days, green is the new black. And whether you’re an Oz fanatic or suiting up for the big day o’ the Irish (Happy St. Patty’s!), the emerald hue is taking over your eyeliner, mascara, polish and even faux lashes. Exciting as this jewel-toned hue may be, navigating beauty trends can sometimes be as confusing as when Dorothy realized she was no longer in Kansas. Fret not and just follow our lead—we’ve got your ticket into Emerald City.

    Seeing green

Considered the windows to the soul, eyes are the first things we notice about someone. Sweep on enchanting emerald green, and you’ll hypnotize.

Ways to wear it: Use a gel-based liner that won’t smudge, or work a shade of green into a smoky eye. Or choose the mod way to wear makeup and draw a green line along the crease—just glimpsing a pop of green when you blink.

    Caught green-handed

Lately, it’s NBD to wear bold shades on our tips. From matte to major glitter, show-stopping nails are all the rage.

Ways to wear it: Have fun with the hue and line a thin silver stripe down the center of leprechaun green nails, or do a French manicure using jade instead of the classic white polish.

    Kiss me, I’m Irish.

For the seriously brazen girl (we know you’re out there), the green pout is now a trend—and you’re going to rock it. Precious gem-colored lips have been spotted on celebs and on the runways, and there’s no better time to break out the green than this St. Patty’s Day.

Ways to wear it: Take baby steps with a sheer green-tinted gloss, or go all in with a shimmery green lipstick. Either way you wear it, you’ll surely leave your mark.

    Rare gems

Green eye shadow not enough? Here’s a roundup of fun ways to fit the hue into your big night beauty routine.

Ways to wear it: Make like a runway model and stick individual gemstones onto your lids. Feeling more like a flash? Take lashes to new lengths with a stunning, feathery lime fringe. Or sport a welcome new addition to the nail art trend: nail wraps. Sticking these stunners onto all ten, or even just one or two of your digits will make an unexpected point.  For a hair color change without the commitment, chalk on shades of seafoam to hair ends for a fresh take on the ombre trend.
