5 ways to protect your skin this fall

The cold air outside and all that time inside can dry out skin easily and leave your face looking flaky and cracked. Blah! Try these easy tricks to protect against the harsh winds and dry air for the next few months.

Smooth it out
Apply moisturizer to your face once a day to keep your skin from getting chapped. Make sure it is a face moisturizer though -- body lotion is to thick and will clog up your pores.

Block it out
Even though summer is over, the sun can still be very damaging to your skin in winter, especially when reflecting off snow. When going outside for the day to pick some pumpkins or rake up the leaves, always slather on a sunscreen with a protective SPF.

Less steam
Although it feels great after a cold day, taking a steaming hot shower can cause your body to loose moisture and make your skin super dry. Turing down the water a little bit to a warm level can help keep your skin healthy and full of moisture.

Get some zzz’s
Getting a good night sleep can give your skin the perfect amount of glow. By getting enough hours of shut-eye, your body will rejuvenate itself and keep your skin looking healthy and bright.

Insider tip
Drinking a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon, your body will become re-energized and be able to fight toxins. Not only will your skin look better, but your entire immune system will be better protected against the winter flu season.
