Wait, girls are rubbing *what* on their eyebrows?

We’ve all heard that onions will make you cry if you have to cut some up to add to your dinner, but now beauty bloggers are claiming they might have other weird effects, too.

Last week, beauty blogger Huda Kattan shared a brow tutorial from Farah Dhukai's Instagram showing off the newest beauty trend. In the video, Farah showed off her new tutorial—one where she rubs an onion slice onto her eyebrow. Um, what?

According to Farah and Huda, onion juice can help your brows grow fuller. "Onion juice has sulphur, which speeds up the growth of hair and makes it thicker," they wrote in the caption.

Despite the possible benefit, we're not exactly in a rush to try this out. After all, the idea of having an onion so close to our eyes kind of freaks us out—but dermatologist Kavita Mariwalla told Allure that this theory may not be so far off base.

"Sulfur is important in hair; however, applying onion juice does not mean that the sulfur is incorporated into the hair strand. Rather, the sulfur acts as a natural anti-inflammatory," she explained, citing a study where onion juice encouraged hair growth in women with alopecia.

As long as you're careful to not get any juice in your eyes, Mariwalla says it's not the weirdest thing to try. "You don't want to put a whole onion on your brows like you see in the video. Instead, squeeze the onion juice onto a Q-tip and precisely apply it so that it doesn't get in your eyes. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then wash it off."

We totally get wanting fierce, full brows, but we think for now we'll probably stick to vitamins and make-up to fill in any sparse spots.

Would you try this new tip? What's the weirdest beauty trick you've ever tried?
