Am I gay?

Recently, I got my hair cut, and I spend a lot of time making it look like a guy's. I read a book about a girl who was 'transgendered' and pretended to be a boy for a while. This idea caught my attention.

Ever since, I have been daydreaming  about how much easier/more fun it would be to be a guy. I asked some of my friends if they felt this way too, it freaked them out.

Some of them think I might be a lesbian. Will this blow over? Is it normal?

Whew, as if you don't already have enough to worry about with school, family and friends up creeps the changing feelings and emotions to just confuse you even more! It's like it never ends! But in short, yes, questioning your sexuality is normal at this age.

A lot of girls find themselves wondering what it would be like to be a guy when they go through puberty and begin to experience new hormones and emotions. So it totally makes sense to think. "If all this stuff is changing with me, what's with the deal with guys?!" Your feelings could just be part of the normal process of understanding sexuality and the mysterious opposite sex so it could pass or >end up not being as big a deal as you think.

But, if you feel like it might be more to it than that, then yes, it's possible that you could be attracted to both girls and boys. You could also be attracted to girls or relate more to boys than you do to girls. If that’s the case then be proud! Many people realize or admit this around puberty although some claim to have known about their sexuality since they were very young. Confused about how you feel? Try jotting it down in a journal and see what you come up with. You could also a school counselor or trusted adult friend about what you’re feeling. Once you start opening up about what's going on you'll feel more confident about yourself and hopefully understand it a little better.

Don't be afraid to talk to your friends either. If they're your true friends then they won't care or judge you on your sexuality! There are so many things that make a person great so don't feel like you have to make a decision on this right now! It's okay to be a little confused during this time, but as always, it's best to talk it out to get a better handle on it, so don’t keep your feelings bottled up! And no matter what don’t be afraid to be who you are.
