Cool Calendars

A calendar is a cool craft to make with your kids. Bonus about this DIY proj? It'll help the children learn their numbers, days of the week and months!

What You'll Need:
colored card-stock paper
personal photos
decoupage glue
paintbrush
hole puncher
ribbon

What You'll Do:

1. Use the hole puncher to punch two holes, centered and about two inches apart, at the tops of 12 sheets of card stock.
2. Use your computer to create calendar grids for every month of the year. (If you don’t have access to a computer, simply draw a grid for each one with a ruler and felt-tip marker.)
3. Cut out the grids for each calendar month. Use the paintbrush to cover the backs of the grids with glue, and place on the bottom half of one piece of card stock.
4. Brush glue on the backs of photos or cutouts from magazines (make color copies of photos if you don’t want to use originals), and paste above each grid.
5. Continue to decorate the pages by gluing on various cut-outs. Let dry for about an hour, then lay a heavy book on top of each page to prevent pages from curling. Let dry overnight.
6. Stack the pages in order, with January on top and ending with December. Tie at the top with a piece of ribbon, leaving just enough slack for hanging.
Other ideas? Have the kids highlight and decorate the days of their fave holidays. Or mark the days that you're coming back to babysit them!
