Leapin' lizards workout

Sick ‘n’ tired of the same-old workout? Shake things up with your sweeties with this Leap Year-themed series of activities. Besties (and a sense of humor) required!


Host a leap-o-lympics

Gather your buds and don your best gear for an Olympics-inspired mini-workout. Head to a nearby park or a friend’s backyard. You’ll need a stopwatch and a yardstick. Hold events like standing and running long jump, highest jump (standing and running), and a hopping on one foot contest (fastest time and longest-hopping).


Bust a move

Do you or one of your friends have a trampoline? Call dibs for the afternoon and ask a bud to judge your best tramp moves. Just be careful, OK?


Skip to my lou

Jumping rope is a fantastic workout, but it can get a li’l boring after awhile. Add competition to mix things up. See who can jump rope continuously for the longest, who can win a jump-rope race, who can complete the most jumps in a minute, who can complete a tricky combination of moves. Or, tackle a global challenge like Double Dutch, or a rhyming game like the many “Cinderella” variations.
