Sterling Beaumon, star of the recently released DVD Mostly Ghostly, sat down for a chat with GL to dish on the filming the flick and all things spooky.
ON HIS CHARACTER MAX: “My character Max is kind of a geek at first. He is not really good at sports or with girls but tries to do magic. He discovers two ghosts in his house, a brother and sister named Nicky and Tara. They agree to help him with his magic, with girls and his family if he will help them find out what happened to them and to find their parents.”
ON FILMING THE SCARY FLICK: “It doesn’t seem spooky when filming because most of the most frightening things are special effects. In between takes we mostly did school—especially me cause being the lead meant that I was in almost every scene. When I finally finished school, we would skateboard (until they decided that was dangerous) and mostly I played guitar. I also hung out in the art director’s room and the editing room so I could see how they do everything with the movie.”
STUNT MAN: “The craziest stunt I did in the film was jumping down five big steps in the front of my house and landing. I also loved running through the spooky tunnel, doing a forward roll and ending up on my feet. The green screen stuff up in the air on the harness was great, too.”
NAME GAME: “My mom got my name Sterling from a baby name book and liked it because it means “top notch” and “No. 1.” Also, my half brother and sister have English names, so my mom and dad thought it went well with them. My middle name “Martin” was my grandpa’s name.” (and he was an actor, too!)
FEAR FACTOR: “I have a phobia of snakes, ghosts and people breaking into my house.”
DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS? “Yes, I do, but [director] Rich Correll says that ghosts definitely DO NOT exist.”
SCARY MOVIE: I am actually a bit scared of horror films, but the one that really scared me was “When a Stranger Calls.”
CANDY LAND: “My favorite Halloween candy is candy corn and Reese Peanut Butter Cups.”
WE NEVER KNEW! “I am a competitive figure skater and play hockey. Also, I have never gone more than a few months without being in a professional play or musical since I was 7 years old. I am also a great singer and want to have a music career.” We have no doubt that this guy’s going to conquer the music scene, too!
Sterling’s costar, Ali Lohan (you know, the gal with the famous sis?) chatted with us just the other day. She assured us that Sterling was an AWESOME guitar player. We talked about all that and more. Come back to girlslife.com next week for our exclusive interview!
