Sorta. I’m still training for the half-marathon. I trotted 11 miles for my Sunday long run. But I definitely have more work to do before the race. Though, as a friend of my family said the other night, “Shouldn’t you be done training by now?” Eek, good call. It’s in nine days!
So, here’s what I’m pondering this week: How can I balance my workouts and life, so that I’m perfectly prepped? What do you girls do when you have a big game/tryout/competition coming up?
My first thought was simple: Double sessions! “I know, I’ll run in the morning and then go to the gym after work.” But I don’t have a coach, and I’d end probably end up hurt. No, thanks. On to Plan B.
I’m gonna incorporate more back-to-basics, track-practice inspired moves into my workouts. Plyometrics (like squat and lunge jumps), push-ups and plenty of ab exercises should do the trick. I’ve gotta build strength, so my body can survive all those miles.
Oh, and I’m gonna get tons of sleep. Because, seriously, I’m zonked. G’nite!
Healthy Hearts,
Katie A.
