It’s been a year, and my period is still irregular. Sometimes my cycle lasts 18 days; other times, it’s 31. When will it be normal?

Well, your period is normal! It can take up to two years for your body to get used to menstruating. In that time, it will come and go as it pleases-and that’s not unusual. Why? Your body is not producing hormones at even levels yet, explains Dr. Charles Wibbelsman, author of The Teenage Body Book, but they should regulate themselves soon. Just so you know, stress can get your cycle off-schedule, too. And for some girls, their periods are never all that regular, even after many years. While it’s annoying now, just try to be patient. Your body is working hard to solve the problem, we promise.

Hey,

Many girls experience irregular cycles, so you should be fine. If it really bothers you that much see a doc, but if you had an irregular cycle before it's not unlikely for you to experience it again.

yah...i'm still like totally irregular...i had my first one on January the 11 and i only had two taht were twenty eight days apart...the only part i don't like is the fact that i don't know when it'll come.so i just always have to be prepared!

***MOD*** theres a guy i like and i think he likes me back. cuz we got called up 4 prizes 4 the fundraiser in the cafe 2day and there were 2 sides of the table and i got there b4 him and he started walking towards the other side but saw me and walked on my side and stood next 2 me. then on friday he kept coming ova 2 "use" a calcultaor which was near me, but ended up saying "hi" to me every time instead of using one. wat do you think? also i have a few plans set up to see if he likes me (a friend askes him and all that stuff)

hi mod i really need help... i just made my school volleyball team, and that's really cool, but yesterday we had our first game, and i only got to play for a minute (literally), and it was at the end of the game when the coach asked if anyone hadnt played yet.

and also whenever we play games at practice, i'm always left after all the positions are filled and i'm already one of the better players. i used to be one of the four setters but the coach replaced me with a girl who isnt very good at getting the ball. what do all the other players except me have? (u dont have to answer that) how can i let my coach know that im ready to play in a game?? how can i get over this, too?(i feel really betrayed and feel like crying kind of) i want to quit if my team doesn't need me

hey girl, I know its frustrating but your coach knows best. Dont get discouraged and keep on trying, if you pout and get all upset you definately wont play. Talk to her after practice to see if there is anything you can do to get mroe playing time. xo JANA

MOD I have a busy busy schedule and it all starts at 6;30am and ends at 9:00pm what should I do. and I know ive asked this before I wake up at 6:30am (on weekdays) and its really hard to wake up got any other advice thats different from alarm clocks like something I should do thanx cow4now.

**MOD*** (Jana, please) Hey thanks for answering my other comment about the guy who i thought liked me...well we cant sit anywhere we want. we have assigned seats. And he's on the other side of the room. Plus, i only have flex/study hall and HR with him. no other classes. not even gym, chorus. anything. and he didn't walk over next to me cuz he thought he had to. there was a few other people on that side. plus, i'd ask for his AIM and stuff so we can chat, but im prob the shyest girl in the entire grade. well, not the entire grade but on my team (like yellow, red, blue i meant. not sports). any other help??

Try out the regular tampons first. Later, you can buy a different size if the regular doesn't work for you. -lauren

MOD- My BGF (as close as it gets anyway) is acting rlly weird. He freaked out when he found out I had Headstrong on my iPod. He sat next to me in art class today and was all in my face. Not to mention I had to stab him with my pencil to get him to leave me alone. (not hard!!) He sorta freaked out wen he found out that a guy was stalking me. (true story. this guy says hes stalking me and hacks my chats and stuff. its weird.) Do u think he likes me??? srry its so long!!

You get really sick (like have a temperature and stuff) if you have tss. As long as you don't wear the tampon for more than eight hours, you won't get tss. -lauren

My mom says that I'm too young (being 13) to use a tampon. I've tried asking her about it, but that's all she will say. Any tips? I have a beach day (with thie marine science group I'm in) and I have to get in the water next week, and I'm supposed to have my period then.... but my mom won't let me wear one! Mine was horrible. I got it when I was eight and now have had it for eight years, with fainting, throwing up, and tons of blood loss. I would have it off for one day, and then for three months! And I would gain and loss weight like crazy, plus, I could ony wear sweats because I would bleed through everything. The I found out I had endometriosis and two holes in my uterus. They cleaned everything up now, but I just want to make sure girls understand that if you think sometginf is wrong, it probably is. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise if it gets to this point. My life was so restrained because of it. Talk to your doctor about it. Please.

okay my 6 week health class is over and now i have regular pe.everyone says you have to change in the locker room instead of in the stall.in front of everyone.my periods are like they are supposed to be which means i am getting during pe at sometime next week.also i have pubic hair and don't won't anyone staring down there.
oh yeah my works at the school is going to ask about this but until then what should i do?

Hey Girl,

When I had to change in gym we did not shower so I just wore good undies and a bra and changed as fast as I could. During my period, when it was bad I would go into a bathroom stall and change just in case. If you do have to shower I don't think people are going to stare everyone just wants to get in and out as fast as possible. Good Luck!

Why does my stomach always bulge after i eat, even if I didn't eat that much? I am short, not fat, and i do gymnastics so i have really big, strong 6-pack abs. Does this help you figure out why my stomach bulges? My dad just says it has no where else to go so it bulges and then goes back to it's regular size. Is that true?
Also, why does my weight change throughout the day? In the morning I am 78, then i might be around 80, and then i might be less than 78. what's going on and which number is my REAL weight?!

I can barely walk, it hurts to excercise(I love exercising), I get so nausious that I cant eat, and it feels like a knife has been shoved into my stomach. I've tried pain meds, but they don't work. there is a guy ive known since kindergarten. hes been like the class trouble maker, but he was pretty funny so i didnt really hate him like i normally would. but i didnt like him. he left the school in 5th grade, and now we go to the same school again, and he is being so wierd.hes asked like 10 girls out, including me. then wen i was walking home he came with me and he randomaly sad "if you wanna see it i can show it to you" i didnt know what he was talking about so i just sed "no" then he sed "ill just unbutton my pants right now so u can so it" and bu then i figured it out, wat he has talking about, and so i just kinda shuffled away from him into this group of ppl. now, he keeps calling my ame while im getting to my next class. i am kinda freaked out that he might do ssomething bad to me.

mod. i am very sad. my mom thinks im a liar, but im not. here is why. a few months ago, my "BFF" (not) got mad at me and so she went home and told her mom i had stomped on her sweater in a mud pile. then her mom called mine, and sed i stopped on her sweater in a mud pile. but i didnt!!! now, some girl i know who im supposed to walk home with is trying to be emo (she thinks that that will make guys like her...im so sure) and she told her mom that i pushed her into a rose bush, and thats why she has scratched on her wrist. so my mom thinks im a liar, and that i am a mean person to ppl. she is also making me ride my bike now, which makes you look idiodic at my school, which is ridiculous, but still i dont want to be a complete nerd! its just not fair! Okay, heres the sitch, theres this new guy, lets call him joe, okay? Hes one of those "popular" new guys who are just popular because they're hot. And i was talking to him on myspace alot for about a month. And then his girlfriend found out and she turned him completely against me by showing joe my bad side, and with other girls...lets just say i get a little nasty. anyway, he forgave for the things i said about his gf but he still isn't my friend. I thought i hated him and like didn't like him AT ALL. But now , i think i'm going crazy, i'm like seeing him everywhere and hallusenating. Hes like haunting my brain. Hes all i ever think about and i think its kinda sick.
1. Am I going crazy?
2.What can I do, if anything, for him to be my friend again?

You need to get involved in something to get your mind off him. I know there isn't a turn off switch in your brain but, once you're busy doing something else you will start to see that you are so distracted that you stop thinking about him. Give him some space and then start talking to him again on a friend level.
