I just found out my best friend since first grade is switching to a private school. We are both really sad. What can I do to cope and make new friends at my school!? -Anonymous
Bummer! It will definitely be an adjustment to not see her every day in school, but it could actually be a good thing if you let it. You may have to make an extra effort to make sure you plan to spend time with each other, but think about how much you'll have to talk about when you do get to talk or hang out! Take this as an opportunity to expand your social network and make new friends that you otherwise wouldn't. You'll definitely make new friends at school to keep yourself from getting lonely, so don't worry about that -- but just think: she'll also make new friends at her new school who she could introduce you to! She's not moving away so you can still easily maintain your friendship, but you both may find that you meet some great people and make some important connections that would never have been possible if she hadn't switched schools. Hey I know how you feel,I've moved at least to 8 different schools and it's tough but you and your best friend will still be the best of friends. But,that doesn't mean that you can't have other friends. You could join clubs and meet some other friends,and then when you and your best friend have sleepovers you could invite your new friend and you could all be friends!! GOOD LUCK!!

aww, imk sorry your friend is going 2 go 2 a private school. I think you should call her and still be freinds but along the way try to make new friends. just be out there at school, try to be friendly and it might be good for you to meet new people. Just stay positive and I think youll be ok, trust me.

I'm so sorry about your friend!! But I know exactly how you feel because I've been there before. There's not much you can do, but there is a lot you can do to help cope better. Try having more sleepovers, and hang out more often, plus it will give you more to talk abuot when you do get to hang out! Also you'll make more friends, you and her both before you know it youll have more friends than you can count!!! Hopefully that helped!! Good luck!! itll all be good, youll see

MOD i have to read *great expectations* for my honors english class by august 25, and i'm about 1/3 done. i'm an avid reader, but only with books that ARE INTERESTING, and this book is sooooooo boring!!!!! and its hard to understand because its in weird old talk, and its hard for me to concentrate while i'm reading it, and i avoid reading it, but i HAVE to read it. so, i'm scared i won't finish it on time! help! what should i do? please answer, cuz its very important!

heyy, it will work out. trust me. my absolute best friend in the whole wide world is veeeery close to me, and we never even went to school together. and i moved three states away four years ago and we're still super tight! she visits in winter and i visit in summer, so i'm positively sure you can still keep in touch and stuff; it wont be hard. as for making new friends-- that is the easiest thing eeeevvvveeeerrr! ive moved so many times and making friends is the easiest thing! i know you think it'll be hard but there are so many nice people out there that you can be friends with! good luck! xo

MOD Today I bought skinny jeans for the first time. I tried them on in the store and I guess they were fine. I came home and tried them on agian, but I think they might be a bit loose on the thigh area. I want to ask you if I wash them in the washing machine, but air dry (I have no dryer) my jeans will they shrink? Because if they do shrink I'll keep them, if not I have to exchange for a smaller size. - Thank you <3
It depends on the brand of jean, but they probably won't shrink that much. when you do wear them, they'll stretch out anyway. -lauren

I don't think you should limit yourself to dressing one way and categorizing yourself. Wear what you are comfortable in and don't try to live up to a specific image. Wear what makes you feel confident. If that means wearing "rocker" clothes one day and "girly girl" clothes the next, then it's no big deal. -lauren

**Mod !!!! please help . For years everytime I make a friend they end up ditching me, leaving me sad. I always make the wrong friends, and I only make a few. Friends in teh past have spread nasty rumors about me at school so I only have a few friends. There is a group about 3 people and we are the "others" everyone else doesn't like us because of nasty reps, and we didnt't even do it! we just became friends with the wrong person. A girl in my class said she would invite everyone to her pool party, but guess what, there were 3 people not invited. I was one of them. I know I don't have many friends because I have becase really distant, not wanting to make friends with people and get hurt. How can I open up and make new friends? how can I be social again ? I tottaly forget how. (hard to believe huh) I joined up for volleyball, the only group my small town overs that I can actally join. (my interests are art and music and things people do alone, or the lessons are private) Please help, I really want to have a friend I can actually trust before I graduate. MOD! ANYONE! ok, so i had two best friends last year...we'll call them Jennifer and Melinda.... and first semester we had lunch together and a couple classes...things were fine. but next semester i dont have anything with Melinda. She's always busy too with afterschool activities. Things are good with jennifer. things were distant with me and melinda, and it got worse when a new guy came along...we'll call him jake. so i pretty much am not friends with her. we didnt really talk all summer, her bf jake would always be with her and she wont even talk to me about whats going on between them. jake kinda scares me like he'll end up getting mad at her and hitting her.of of course, he claims he loves her....shes been different though. he snaps over little things...but i dont have the heart to tell melinda... this year we wont ever see each other at school and now i won't see jennifer hardly. we promised to stay tight...but that doesnt seem to be how it goes....i'm scared of losing my best friend. Hey girly! Nobody wants to find out personal stuff like that about our parents and you are understandably upset. But think about it this way, you would rather have your parents be happy together and in love than divorced. Your dad is not a bad person and you shouldn't hate him. Just be thankful that your parents are happy together. And for future reference, if you don't want to find your parent's personal stuff, don't go snooping in their drawers in the first place! You wouldn't want them to go through your drawers and find your private things.

I felt so bad for him because he was telling me all of these brutal stories about how his dad wouldnt let him eat for 2 days until he found the power cord for his laptop and how his dad trapped him in a corner and beat him for 4 minutes straight until he had to call 911. his mom is also really mean and she sounds kind of pyscho to me. he told me that he didnt want to tell an adult because he doesnt know wut would happen to him or his family but that he can handle it. im really really scared for him because what if something really bad happens to him where he wont be able to handle it??? i really want there to be something that i can do but i just told him that if he ever needed to talk , that i was there. please help !! what do i do!?!?

MOD I NEED UR HELP! THIS KEEPS MAKING ME CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP! ok wen i was 4 years old i had a 13 year old neighbor. me and him were really good friends. well all of my old sister-like-cousins had bf's. well i thought that meant a friend that was a boy not wat it really is. well i asked him to b my bf n he said on one condition and to come back the next day. so i did. wen i showed up he pulled my to his outdoor doghouse and stated abusing me. after he abused me he threatend me that if i didnt come back that he would kill me n hurt me. so everyday i would keep coming back. well i didnt even remember what would happen during those sesions. then he moved away and i told, but there wasnt much we could do then. now that i think about it, im afraid that he may hav taken my virginity! and im the 'wait until marriage' person. i dont want to tell my mom that i may think that, cuz im scared of wut she'll think. i told my bff, but i feel so dirty, and i keep crying myself to sleep! and im going to camp on sunday so i need to calm down! i keep thinking that it was all my fault b/c i was the one who fell into his trap! im just soo stressed out b/c im 13 and don't even know if im a virgin! please answer this asap! if there is anything that is considered innapropriate (i dont think there it) then just post the answer or somthing cuz i need to know today b/c i can only b on today, and only for like 20 more mins!
Hey girly. This is a really serious problem you have here. If you were abused, first of all know that it was not your fault. It can be hard, but you need to tell someone. If you feel uncomfortable telling your parents, you can call your doctor and they will help you figure out what to do. You can tell him or her what happened and they will tell you if he took your virginity or not. But do not keep this to yourself, because you can get help and the boy who did it can get in trouble or even go to jail. You guys I need help! Okay so I had this friend for awhile, and we'll call her Sam, okay I like her a lot, but she always gets mad at me, but if I get mad at her she won't talk to me , because she's being stuberen(sp?) , and if I stay mad she'll want to forgive me, but I don't know how to get confident! Please help!
