According to an article in The New York Times, the Federal Trade Commission filed a report that showed food companies spend over a billion bucks advertising to kids in 2006. Many major food companies have promised to start marketing “better” foods to teens. The tricky part? The makers of your fave snacks get to decide what “better” means (some have cut sodium, for example).There are rules and regs about the kinds of food ‘n’ drinks that can be advertised to kids. But the line gets blurry, when ya throw in the fact that families watch shows together. So is the ad aimed at the teen or ‘rents? It might look like Coca-Cola has eased up on advertising toward a younger set, but they are still sponsor “American Idol,” which, hello, millions of kids watch. Other companies are trying to make healthier versions of your junktastic faves. Will vitamin and fiber-packed candy soon be our movie theater snack? Hey BLUEBUBBLES! I have gained five pounds and am getting tired all ready with my new work out routine. PRETTY-PLEASE-WITH-A-CHERRY-ON-TOP give me your work out secrets! No way am I going to lag behind in gym class again this year. I wish I could have healthier cookies that are better for you and you can have a lot of them at one time. All the healthier cookies I've tried say the serving size is, like, one teensy tiny cookie. It's ridiculous. How are people supposed to eat just one of those?

actually i have this magazine and it shows how to make brownies not from chocoalte but from veggies and fruits! i actually wanna try em! it says that the kids wont even know theyre eating veggies! ALSO: I think we should all eat more blueberries! because...they help prevent dibetes, cancer, and old age memory loss! those tiny and delicious blueberries are like..the mircle berry!

i think that all those fast food restaurants should stop serving a lot of fried food and start focosing on healthier choices. they are the reason that there are alot of overweight people today!!

girlnextdoor123- all i did was go up to the top of girlslife.com and click g-life, then click workouts, then just keep hitting read more until i got workouts. i just did those for a while and i lost 10. and instead of grabbin the chips or soda, i went for an apple and water. it might not be as yummy, but i love it and it helps speed your metabolism.

girlsnextdoor123 im gonna give u my workout advice because i used to weigh 141 now i weigh 125! still loosing weight too! i feel great! alls u need to do is think...do u eat when ur bored or hungry? if bored then think to urself b4 reachin for a snack"wait. ur not even hungry! why do this?" it helped me. also i lift 3 lb weights for 20 mins a day, 5 mins of crunches on those exercising ball and [optional] walk a mile! it really works and i think im proof since im down 2 pant sizes! it feels great! man o man i hope they can make healthyer cake.....my family doesnt hav cake or dessert too often, but my sis made a cake yesterday. i ate a TON of it....i feel awful. ive been bloated al day. more than usual at least.....i just cant help it! since we hardly ever hav cake, when we do i cant stop eating it!! i hate it. and im trying REALLY hard to lose weight.....mayb ill hav an apple....WAIT! I have a super-fast metabolism I think. I am really skinny (not bragging)and people always think I don't eat. I hate it when people say "You need to get some meat on those bones" or something like that. But I really do eat. Probably the amount an avreage teen eats. But this is why I posted. Just beacause someone is skinny, doesn't mean their healthy. I know I sure am not. So to all of you avreage sized girls, you might be more fit and healthy than some one who is super skinny like me. Don't think you need to lose weight because you aren't as skinny as other people. That is how people become anerxic. Oh, and I am not trying to be mean to anyone.... so sorry if the way I worded some things sounds mean. I honestly didn't mean it that way!

I think it's our fault we aren't healthy. Maybe if we took the time to think "hey, maybe this double chocolate brownie really ISN'T good for me." If we stopped being stupid, such as, "WOW NOW THIS ONLY HAS 23 GRAMS OF FAT COMPARED TO 24?? NOW IT'S MAGICALLY HEALTHY FOR ME!" No. HERES A THOUGHT. INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIND THAT HEALTHY DOUBLE CHOCOLATE FUDGE COOKIE WHICH IS NONEXISTENT AND WILL STAY NONEXISTENT, WHY DON'T YOU GO FIX YOURSELF AN APPLE? If you want a cookie, eat a cookie. Bottom line:junk food is junk food and we need to be smarter about the advertisements. If you want to be healthy, don't drink Coke Zero, drink water. ok?

I agree with *Fenderbabe69*- healthier junk food doesn't exist. It would be nice, but people should just eat healthier in general. It would be nice to have and its-its thats less than 340 calories though!

if there was a way to have junk food healthier everyone would be eating it and then the yummy every once and a while treats like ice cream and cookies would be in everyday diets and wouldn't seem special anymore

Hey Girl, when your chest is developing it def will be sore and the hard spots are prob your glands so I wouldn't worry about them too much. Unfortunately, breast tenderness will be with you throughout your whole life (during PMS and when you're pregnant) so I'm sure it's normal. ~Callie

i completely agree with *Fenderbabe69* and fashionista8613!! all junk food is is sugar, fat, sodium, and carbs for the most part. and yes, these foods were just fine to eat everyday back in the 60s and 70s- when EVERYONE was part of the working class and did 10 hours a day of hard labor a day, but come on!!! we're smart enough to build an amazingly intricate machine that can go to Mars, but we (as a society) can't figure out just how bad junk food is and stop eating!?! that's just plain stupid and irresponsible! (and when i say "stop eating it" i mean stop manufacturing it, stop advertising it, and cut it completely out of everyone's diet!) and the really sad thing is, this hope of mine will probably never happen because some people are so poor that they can only afford junk food! it's weird that they can only afford to be overweight and unhealthy when in every century prior to this one, being fat was a mark of higher class, because it meant that they could afford lots of food and didn't have to work hard all day to make a living. so, what i'm trying to say is... we need to make healthy food cheaper, we can start by eating more locally grown food, instead of getting our apples and green beans from brazil or wherever, major grocery chains need to start buying from local farms... and another bonus is to help our local economies by instead of only taking money out of the system... chains like walmart, glen's, and olesen's can take AND give!! sorry this thing is so huge... i have a lot of opinions!!

yes *Fenderbabe69* but their is also people who use it to numb out their emotions and yes I agree that we all have choices and a majority of the time are problems are self inflected but sometimes people use it to help them feel better and sometimes they have no control because again they use it to numb themselves and yes it's an eating disorder it's called binge and unlike bulimia they eather do nothing about it and feel cruddy or they exercise it off I perfer to exercise it off. So my advice to emotional eaters is to o find soemthing else to do tahst NOT food related call a friend, pet the cat, blog or eat healthystuff instead.

hey hizzy8945 , Don't start dissing coca-cola. Like all other junkfoods they're OK if u eat/drink them in moderation. So as long as u do that u shouyld be fine. Plus this may sound dorky , but I collect coca cola stuff. I would love to see healthier versions of all junk foods.

Well, if we paused to think about what we are putting into our bodies this wouldn't happen. One of the most common fatteners is glucose, companies put it in as an alternative to sugar however it fattens you up right away. Look at the pre-packaged foods you buy. If glucose-fructose is ANYWHERE near the top don't touch it. Also watch out for shortening it is a man-made substance that was unknown to man in the early ages. If you eat a lot of it chances are you are heightening your risk of heart-attack or stroke. This means pie, pastry, donuts, etc. If you avoid foods with these in them you'll be good to go. If you love to bake, try adding lemon zest, a bit of whole wheat flour, or less sugar to your favourite treat. Also, eat healthy meals that are balanced in nutrients. Carbs equal empty calories, they are good if you eat a balance but by themselves, they fill you up momentarily. Make sure you eat carbs before you exercise to provide you with energy. Eat lots of leafy greens because they are great for you. And eat carrots and corn occasionally, they contain high sugar. Watch your portions, the bigger the portion, the bigger you'll get. Eat only what you can work off.

dancerwithCRUSH-- this works for me. i get distracted kind of easily. so if i see a box of cookies (and im not hungry) im like, "ooh. yummy!!" but then i realize im not hungry and get really busy doing something--ANYTHING--else. (extra points if ur distraction is something physical, like riding a bike.) then i dont eat till im really and truly hungry. idk if it will work for u, but its workin for me!!

luv2shop112- I'll try out what you say. It's so hard to resist junkfood (chocolate!!!) because I crave a brownies more than I crave a peach. Peaches are good but not as good!!! I think chocolate is cursed, it's like nicotine. Not always healthy (well nicotine is never healthy) but always desired (okay, I don't desire nicotine but you get what I mean). So if I'm tempted to eat something unhealthy, like a cookie, I'll be about to eat the cookie when I'll stop and think. I'll drop the cookie and run out the door as fast as I can. Like you say, doing something physical to distract myself. My parents just might find that strange...

wow. dat sucks. i do ok at not eating junk food but sometimes i grimace at how unhealthy my 3 yr old lil sis can b sometimes but its not her fault. n shes still really healthy, she jus always wants 2 go 2 mcdonalds, but thats more because she luvs the play structure. lol. but weneva she gets home she pretty much runs inside n watches a movie until dinner n then mayb another 1!! i still luv her tho n shes still would rather play with us but r stepmom, her mom, doesnt always let her

I think that we should just get rid of junk food all together. I mean, healthy food can taste really good, but compared to junk food, no one wants to eat it. Junk food is made to taste good, so companies can make money. However, I think that eating junk food once in a while won't kill you. For example, I hardly ever drink soda, but sometimes I drink it, like a few times a year. I also think that when you reach a certain point, you are in charge of the food you eat. So if you want to eat junk food, then eat it. If you want to be healthier, eat healthier food! That's the bottom line in my opinion.
