A lot of times when I sleep, all the sudden my body will just jerk and I wake up. I’ve heard other people my age get them, but what causes it? Is it really normal and how can I make them stop?

Hey Missyrissy,What you’re experiencing is known as myoclonic jerks, or quite simply falling-asleep twitches—and they happen to everyone. Have you ever had a dream where you’re falling and suddenly you trash wildly bed and sometimes it causes you to wake up? That’s a myoclonic jerk.Basically these jerks are your body’s natural response to the wake-sleep transition. During this time, your body is going through some changes in your brain. The over-excitement of the nerves causes you to jerk. Although sleep jerks can occur during any time, they tend to get worse when you’re stressed or over-tired and as a result of too much caffeine.According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine website, 60 to 70 percent of Americans experience sleep jerks. As long as these jerks don’t interfere with your sleep or daily behavior, you’re fine. But if they’re causing serious problems, you should definitely talk to a doctor.Lots of love,L’Oreal

MOD ok some of my friends and i investigated wether or not jello is made of cow toenail and our teacher said that is WAS and horse hooves too! GAH-ROSS!!!!!!!!!! is this true?? i still ♥ jello haha

:::::MOD::::: I am 12. I want to babysit and my mom promised me, since I've been begging to babysit for years, that I could babysit when I was 12 or 13. SHE PROMISED! Now, she refuses to let me and thinks I'm a "child hater" because my 5 year old sister and I squabble. I get along with the really little kids in my school (in fact, one of my friends is in kindergarten lol we don't hang out but we talk in the bus line). I want to find a way for my mom to let me babysit the little kids in our neighborhood (there's tons of them!!!!!). She refuses to let me hang up flyers and she COMPLETELY favors my little sister and always unfairly punishes me for things i never did and even if it was true i did them, i shouldn't have been punished for them because they're like nothing. ugh. i tell my mom it's normal for siblings to fight and she doesn't listen. my lil' sis slaps me and calls me mean things and all i do is tell her to stop and because of that my mom won't let me babysit. I don't need to explain how unfair that is. PLEASE HELP! MY MOM MADE A PROMISE AND I'VE BEEN BEGGING TO BABYSIT FOR YEARS!
Why don't you suggest taking a babysitting class? They usually offer them at YMCAs or even hospitals as two-day programs. They don't cost very much and you get CPR certified - which is a MAJOR plus! Your mom will probably feel much more comfortable trusting you with children, especially other people's children, once you've proved you can handle it and have the certificate to prove it!

mod** hey mod! so i have this friend, M, and we are like best friends. Except when we are at school or if there are other people hanging around. like if it is just me and her, we have SO much fun together and tell each other secrets and stuff. but as soon as another person comes to hang out with us at school or something, she ignores me and is mean to me!! i hate it but i love her!! what do i do?

mod** what are lunges? you always suggest to do them when girls ask you how they can in shape, but i don't know what they are!!
Ite really hard to explain on line. Basically step with one foot in front of the other, about a foot of space in between and then lower yourself down so that you knee is at a ninety degree angle. xoxo JANA

mod: there's this guy that my bff is bff's with and we talk over i.m. and both of them go to a religious school(the religion is different than mine but similar) and the guy sometimes tells me when there's going to be a youth group.i've went to one, you go to church and then you go in the gym. it was fun cuz my bff was there. and i met him there. but he was beggin me over i.m. to go to the one today and i kept asking why and he's like cuz i want you to go! and i'm like____(my bff) isn't going so who will i sit with and stuff. and he's like you can sit with me! but i didn't go! why do you think be wanted me to go so bad? he said he doesn't like girls who arent his religion!

legally Brunette- ur probably already gone, but I'll answer ur question anyway. the transition, for me, wasn't that hard. it kinda depends on what ur school now and ur high school is like. Mine aren't that different except the high school is bigger. the transition was pretty easy. well, yeah, at my school pretty much everyone hates the freshman (it doesn't mean they'll hate u as an individual though). I mean, it all depends on the people in ur grade. mine are all pretty okay, so we're not hated very much. but next years freshman are sooo annoying and we can already tell that everyone will hate them. like, it's not because they will be freshman, but because of how they act. just chill out and be urself and people (including upperclassmen) will like u.

MOD My bras have a number size but no letter! How am I supposed to know if i'm an aa, a, or b? ALL of my bras just have numbers, no letters! I tried measuring myself, and I came out with a D! And it's impossible for me to be a D. Please help!
Try going to a store that sells bras (like GAP body, Victoria's Secret, or maybe even Limited Too) and have a sales assistant measure you. It's not embarrassing - most women are wearing the wrong size bra - so it's really important to have a professional find your right fit. Getting measured doesn't involved removing any clothing and only takes a few seconds!

legally Brunette- oh, and also don't be afraid to ask for help on the first couple days of school. it's better to ask someone (which acknoledges the fact that u don't know everything) than to pretend you know what you're doing (like if u can't find a class) and then mess everything up.

that has happened to me about three times before. and each time it happened i was having this dream that i was falling down the steps, and then when i reach almost to the bottom of the steps my body jerks and i wake up. it's kinda weird, lol.

Even though he's taken, he wants to know that he's still attractive to girls. This can either be a sign of low confidence or high confidence...but sounds like its the first in this case. Just tell him how it is, he has a girlfriend, and while you like being his friend it makes you uncomfortable when he treats you as more than just a friend. He needs to respect his gf.
