Super random specific things to do to make people smile

It's a new year, so let's start it off with some wholesome goodness! Take a little time out of your day to make someone else's a little bit better. Here are some super random, specific things to do to make people smile!

Say "good morning" to strangers on the street

Isn't it crazy to think that our paths intersect with so many people each day? Might as well bid them "hello" every so often!

Impulsively FaceTime your friends

Since we're at home all day anyway, make sure to give your friends a call and let them know that you're thinking about them.

Hype up people in their Insta comments

Takes a couple of seconds to do, makes their *entire* day...yes, please!

Decorate your house to make passerbys happy

Bonus: Maybe you'll be known as that one cool house that is always *super* aesthetic. You know, the house people take self-timer pics in front of to post on their social media.

Let your friends rant it all out

We all have rough days, and our friends are no exception. Sometimes, they need to let it all out, and they need you to be there for them. Plus, it's the perfect opportunity to flex your therapist skills.

Revise other people's English papers for fun

If you're an English whiz and are looking to hone your craft, why not use your magic powers for good? Just make sure you're not doing *all* the work.

Create a cute handshake with your bestie

Yeah, you might've done this when you were six, but who says you can't also do it now? It can be anything from a simple high-five to a minute-long dance routine. To each their own!

Welcome people back from the airport with a sign

Pull out your crafting kit and design the most colorful and ridiculous poster to wake someone up from jetlag with laughter.

Tell people about things that remind you of them

Trust us. Whether it's a random fact, quote or video, this will make them feel *so* special.

Hold the door

Who says chivalry is dead?

Send old-fashioned letters to your close ones

If you're *really* into it, invest in some nice stationery and candle wax. Maybe even stain the paper with coffee for that *extra* vintage look.

Take pictures and videos of your friends

Feed your camera roll and make your friends feel like the main character at the same time. Armed with memories, you could easily throw together one of those trendy 30-second trailers for each of your friends—videos they'll play over and over again with a smile on their face.

Memorize a bunch of dad jokes or cheesy pick-up lines to recite

Here's a solid one to get you started: “Do you believe in love at first sight—or should I walk by again?"

Make someone special a playlist

There's something so comforting and relaxing about creating a playlist, which will be something so unimaginable and delightful for the recipient (Tip: If you ever need any song recs, check out GL's Spotify).

Always be on the lookout to make sure no one's excluded

We all know that terrible feeling of being left out, right? Well, it's about time we make sure no one is the one who has to walk on the curb of the sidewalk, the one without a partner in class or the one who always gets talked over.

Send "good night" texts before you sleep

End the day on a sweet note.
