LIFE

Dear Carol

"Dear Carol, why isn't life like the movies?"

Dear Carol,
I watch TV shows and movies and I think, "They have a great life." It gets depressing.
–TV Girl

Dear TV Girl,
TV shows are fiction, made up, make believe. They serve to entertain and keep you glued to the screen so that you'll watch commercials for sugary soda and bad-for-you junk food and stuff you don't need. Even "reality shows" aren't really real. Producers make sure that all the mansions are sparkling, all the people on them have perfect clothes, hair and makeup and all the fights are vicious. It's OK to enjoy TV but smart to stay grounded. And don't forget to go outside and live your own vibrant life.
