Your Bod

Growth Spurt

I have purplish, vein-like stretch marks on my breasts. What are they from, and how can I get rid of them? They are so ugly!

Don’t be freaked—your body is just growing. Stretch marks typically occur after you lose or gain weight. During puberty, when there is often a rapid growth spurt, you might develop purple-red marks on your breasts, hips and thighs.

The bad news is that you really can’t make them disappear altogether, but the good news is that the marks do fade after a while. Dermatologist Dr. Lynn McKinley-Grant suggests rubbing cream or lotion on the problem areas to moisturize and increase your skin’s elasticity.
