Your Bod

I'm too skinny!

I eat, but I’m still skinny. I can’t wear the clothes my friends wear—they’re too big for me. What can I do to gain more weight?

Skinny girls have body issues, too. But if you complain about it, you’re likely to get that rolled-eye look. To pack on extra pounds, you need to eat a little more—300 to 500 more calories a day, if you can.
But you can’t just chow on bon-bons and bacon double cheeseburgers. Instead, down lots of lean protein, like chicken and fish, says Martica Heaner, nutritionist and co-author of Cross-training for Dummies. Then, add a bunch of complex carbs, like brown rice, whole-wheat bread, veggies and lots of nuts. (Because different people digest food differently, eating tactics for gaining weight are very similar to those for losing it.)
Another way to bulk up? Lift weights. Do upper- and lower-body exercises every other day. Oh, one more thing: You can always add some energy shakes to your diet. Yum.
