Your Bod

There are black hairs on my boobs, and I am freaking out. Help!

I noticed some black hairs developing around my breasts. Is this normal?

Totally! Almost all women have a few stray strands around their nipples. When you hit puberty, your hormones cause hair growth in all sorts of places like your legs, armpits and genitals. There’s no “normal” amount of it to have on your breasts—it varies just like the color, texture and abundance of, say, your arm hair. If you’re concerned about a ton of new strands on your boobs, tell your doctor. It might be an easy-to-treat hormonal issue. Oh, and whatever you do, don’t shave or wax the hairs off. Use a tweezer to gently pluck ‘em out if you must.
