Why does my stomach get so bloated?

Why is it that the second I eat something, my stomach gets super-bloated? I get so self-conscious about it. What do I do to get rid of this?

Don’t freak if you feel a li’l fuller after eating—bloating is a super-normal result of increased gas in your intestines, where digestion occurs. Certain foods like carbs (pasta and bread), milk products (yogurt and cheese) and bubbly soda can make you feel more bloated than others. And swallowing excess air while chewing gum, eating too fast, gulping down a drink or even smoking (yuck!) also ups the gas in your stomach. Just note that a poochy tummy accompanied by weight loss, diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain is not normal, so inform your doc about what’s going on. Another cause for concern? Feeling very full after eating a small amount may be an early sign of an eating disorder. Talk to a trusted adult or counselor ASAP.
