Your Bod

I don't want to tell my mom, but I'm itchy down there

I’m super itchy down there, but the last thing I want to do is tell my mom and go to the doctor. Is there even anything that I can do about it on my own?
A little discomfort is not something to worry about. Sweaty exercise gear or tights pants may be to blame. They could be trapping moisture down there, causing bacteria to grow.

Sounds scary, but don’t sweat it. You can invest in some cotton underwear that will allow you to “breathe,” as well as Vagisil anti-itch cream.

If it’s pretty bad, you may have a yeast infection. Yeast are microorganisms that naturally live down there, but when they overgrow, they irritate vaginal skin causing severe itching.

Think you may have a yeast infection? You should see a doc for diagnosis and treatment. Sure, it may be a little awkward to tell your mom, but bear in mind she’s been there before. Yeast infections are something most girls experience at least once, so don’t be embarrassed.
