We Tried It: Yoga for youth

Yoga has a rep for being a fantastic stress-reliever. Sounds pretty handy, eh? But the smooth moves can be super tricky to pull off when you're just looking off of your fave mag. Good thing the Shanti Generation series has come around!  Creator Ally Wills set it up as a release to combat all of those rough and tough things that happen in day-to-day life. Perfect timing with all of that mid-term stress, don't ya think?

Keep in mind that you don't have to be super flexible to enjoy yoga.  Especially not when there's a DVD designed just for girlies your age. Shanti Generation: Yoga Skills for Youth Peacemakers was created specifically to help build confidence and mindfulness, all the while strengthening your bod.  Trust me, the yoga here is most certainly a workout.  If you follow the movements with your instructor, Wills, you'll feel it in the morn.

Yoga Skills for Youth Peacemakers is the first of the Shanti Generation series.  This vid features 5 practice sequences to help you get into the swing of the yoga thing, a pose library that's separated into "Focus," "Energy," and "Calm" categories, as well as breathing exercises and mindful self-awareness sessions. But my favorite part is how the majority of the program is performed by teens alongside Wills with some oh-so-soothing, feel-good music from 311's bassist, Aaron Wills.

Just itching to try it out for yourself?  It hits the scene for download and purchase on Tuesday, November 8th.  Blog in your opinions when you try it, babes!
