10 things not to say to friends with anxiety


We know, we know: You’re just trying to help. But when an anxious person is dealing with racing heartbeat, sweaty palms and panic attacks, there are certain things that really, really don’t help. Here are 10 of them:

#1. Calm down

#2. Just breathe

#3. There’s nothing to be worried about

#4. I know how you feel

#5. Ugh, again?

#6. Come on, it can’t be that bad

#7. Push past it

#8. My mom says it’s a mind over matter thing

#9. Maybe you should try medication

#10. Or yoga. Have you thought about yoga?
